Random note, Tippi Hedren will be here in El Paso for the Plaza Classic Film Fest (this year offering THE BIRDS and MARNIE which I've actually yet to see, DUCK SOUP, other Ken's TOMMY, MAD LOVE, TO BE OR NOT TO BE, WINGS for the annual silent offering, and for all of us Cecil Kellaway fans, THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS; also CASABLANCA and BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S which the've shown before, but still, I hope I can wangle time off from work and/or plays to see some of these on a big screen in plush seats). (insanely smug look) I recently invested in two 65" high spinning DVD towers; holds hundreds of DVDs, which I arrange by decade. It finally solves years of problematic DVD access and display.

Actually, the best version of GOJIRA that I have is a vhs dubbed from an LD of the original, sub-titled version like TMC showed, and very close in quality. Things being what they are, I haven't sprung for the latest dvd, but now that I'm gainfully employed I might have to treat myself later. There used to be a company that "rented" S-VHS dubs of Toho's films, made from LD's, all sub-titled original Japanese versions. They were all very high quality and I even got a copy of BARAN, before the Americans butchered it into VARAN.

My husband, considerably more orderly than I would be on my own, came up with the filing system. We shelve the pro DVDs in alphabetical order. We assign file numbers to all the homemade DVDs and file those in numerical order. The computer has the up-to-date alphabetized list connecting the titles with the numbers. Now and then I print out the list. We keep the most recent print-out in a binder, in a drawer in the cabinet between the chairs where we watch TV when we watch together. I've managed to group my Ken Russell, Dick Lester, Ernst Lubitsch, Wes Anderson, Lugosi, and Al Jolson into the same areas. That's about it.
