Writer Jeremy Paul has passed away from pancreatic cancer
From Uwe Sommerlad--- Thought it's a nasty rumour, but sadly Bert Coules confirmed that his colleague Jeremy Paul passed away a few days ago from pancreatic cancer at the age of 71. Paul won the Edgar for his screenplay of THE MUSGRAVE RITUAL for Granada's THE RETURN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, and with his stage play "The Secret of Sherlock Holmes" - starring Brett and Hardwicke - had a smashing success on stage as well. In fact, he wrote his first scripts in the early Sixties, had a first connection to Hammer Films with his screenplay for an episode of JOURNEY TO THE UNKNOWN (1969) - he later returned to Hammer for Peter Sasdy's COUNTESS DRACULA (1971) - wrote for UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS as well as THE DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET (among many other shows) and then, in the Eighties, started to contribute to Granada's four Sherlock Holmes series, contributing the scripts for nine episodes. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.
