I do it myself with links to my writings for the Mountain Xpress. But it's becoming more and more common that people who are not actually participating on these boards are using them for the sole purpose of hawking their stuff. And that we do mind.

I appreciate Scarlet Street the magazine and its cyber brother, however, I have never felt the need to comment on everyones opinions unless they are directed at me or a subject I have not heard about in a long time. This is a wonderful print forum and I offer a verbal forum for various film topics. Upcoming segments will include THE THIN MAN SERIES and the films of Edna Mae Oliver. I am not sure why you would find this as an intrusion, as it is not meant to be. I am just trying to connect with other like minded people who like to discuss film! If there are any topics you would like to discuss, let me know and I can arrange it. Note to David, Love the review! I can only imagine how fun you would be on the air!

And I'm not singling you out, because there is one other fairly recent arrival who only posts links to his own articles. The idea, though, is that this is primarily a place to discuss movies, not to hawk your stuff if that's all you do. It's like viewing us as free advertising. It becomes more so when you start posting the information in more than one place.

Maybe that's just a typo or a reference to back issues, but it looks as if you think Scarlet Street is still in print -- and if that's the case, then clearly you don't know much about us. So maybe you did only pop up here to try to sell us stuff. Fyi, the editor of Scarlet Street, Richard Valley, died in October, 2007. After one final issue, that magazine went out of print. The current publication is Scarlet: the Film Magazine. We keep the name "Scarlet Street" here online as a tribute to Richard. http://www.scoreexchange.com/profiles/Lelia_Loban

If you do, as Ken noted, you should have your wrists slapped. It isn't a question of Craig being a nice guy or otherwise, this forum is not meant as a free advertising locale. Yes, Ken and I and Mike Cornett and others do promote our projects here (as do several others), but we also participate beyond that. And that, ultimately is the point Ken is trying to make. You might recall that Richard warned a number of people over the years about what is, essentially, spamming the boards. Some didn't take the hint and he banned them. I think the policy needs to be maintained, particularly when the poster creates a new thread specifically to hawk stuff. If Craig had taken the time to search for a Superman thread (I seem to remember we have one) and posted his information there, it's unlikely anyone would have gotten peeved about this. It was never in the cards that I would be able to call in, but some of them were mildly entertaining. But, yeah- it is getting obnoxious. You say "Wicked" , like it's a bad thing.
