I went to see this film, not expecting much, because it is such a tragic true story but I was swept away by the artistic visuals, music and voice over work by Meg Ryan and John Cusack.
It is difficult to believe anyone would have thought this material would make a great children's animated film but it is. Yes, they play fast and loose with the history (none of the other children, save for the youngest boy seems to be mentioned.) And I normally HATE that but I was drawn in to the story, the light hearted comedy relief of Bartock, Rasputin's white little bat and the comedic banter between the leads. One of my favorite animate films but not for younger viewers.
