Does anybody know Masaki Kobayashi's 1965 film, "Kwaidan"? It consists of four episodes - "Black Hair", "The Woman of the Snow", "Hoichi, The Earless" and "In A Cup of Tea". In its initial American release, "The Woman of the Snow" was deleted from the print. Basically, it is four tales of the supernatural with horror elements. But it is filmed on such a highly inventive (and inspired) visual level that the film seems to become, on the whole, a fantasy of the supernatural.
