Great issue, guys and ghouls! Reading the excerpts of the Claude Rain's book made me immediately order the book! And I can't believe that Linda Miller
lived right here in old Ioway, and I wasn't aware of her. Of course Des Moines is more Southern and she lived in the NorthWest part of the state. Still, is
aint like we are as big as Russia!
Congratulations and I admire how you are sticking to your schedule. Take work! |

Dick, of course knows all about sticking to a publishing schedule --
I mean your new publishing schedule Dick ... I just realized that could have been interpreted as a sarcastic reference to the days when years would go by between issues of LSOH. Putting out two (or three) issues a year in one's spare time is work as we (and Jim Clatterbaugh and Gary Svehla) can attest. John, it sounds as if your new little girl is a cousin to my Gracie; she, too likes to snack on magazines. |

I can't believe it - Yuku let me back in! Hopefully this time I won't be consigned to limbo. Terrific issue, as usual. Particularly enjoyed the continuation of the Rains article and Leila Loban's look at Gramarcy Pictures. Would like to read an article about Bel-Air Productions....lots of weird late 50's horror titles in that catalog. They show up from time to time on TCM and even on DVD. Congrats on the issue! And of course always looking ahead to the next one! |

Tom Weaver did what I am told was a very comprehensive article on BelAir for Fangoria a while back. Unfortunately I heard about it after the next issue went on sale, so I didn't get to read it. I am personally fascinated by the BelAir films much more than the Gramercy product & I'd like to know more about them. They often look quite threadbare, but they all also invariably feature at least one genuinely startling & creepy scene. >>Max Cheney (Harry accidentally misspelled my name, hee hee!) << Every time it appeared! Mea culpa. Mea culpa. Mea mega culpa! |

Yes, Bill, that would be me - finally fulfilling my destiny as a character actor, as forecast by one of my beloved colllege professors. He told me "You
can play the older roles in college (I had played the Rudy Vallee role in HOW TO SUCCEED for him), but, at 18, you won't be hired to play them in the
outside world - that's why there's Don Ameche. So, if you can ride it out until you get to the actual age of the roles you do well, you could work for
the rest of your life!"
In any case, shooting will continue on FU throughout September, and I'll let everyone know when the first episode (it's a serial, and I don't come in until Part 6, I think) is due up on YouTube! Kevin - that's great! I'll let some people who've been asking me about it where to go.

It is great to hear that Scarlet is selling so well, it seems that we get so much bad news with other magazines. Fewer outlets because sales are not high
enough for Diamond to carry a magazine. Circulation dropping to a point that in recent issues of G-Fan and Scary Monsters Magazine, we read that these
magazines may be ending sooner than the publishers would like to end.
Lots of my favorite magazines are labors of love that lose money. So I am glad that Scarlet is doing well. |
