I thought that A CHALLENGE FOR ROBIN HOOD had been released on DVD. Can't say I've seen it, although I can't say I was looking for it, either.

Upcoming MGM "Midnight Movies"
|
On November 20th, MGM will be releasing:
WAR GODS OF THE DEEP, I BURY THE LIVING, ANGRY RED PLANET, STRANGE INVADERS, EMPIRE OF THE ANTS, MORONS FROM OUTER SPACE, and the Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptations AT THE EARTH'S CORE and THE PEOPLE THAT TIME FORGOT. I believe that Warner Bros. is releasing Hammer's THE MUMMY soon. I'm also looking forward to deeveedees of DR. ZHIVAGO, DUMBO, and STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE--THE DIRECTOR'S CUT. |

Well, Kevin, there's hope for those other Warner Hammer films, but only if there's a major studio release about the same monster.
Of the disappointing MGM November Midnite Movies slated for DVD, the only one I will purchase is WAR GODS OF THE DEEP. |

I read somewhere in the last week that WB is going to be releasing several horror titles including BRIDES OF DRACULA on DVD.

Ron, THE BRIDES OF DRACULA is going to be a Universal release, not Warner Bros., though Warners will be releasing the 1959 THE MUMMY . . .

I'd somehow missed seeing THE BRIDES OF DRACULA for the last few decades, until AMC played it a few months ago. It zipped past pretty much every other Hammer production in my affection...I'm waiting anxiously for this deeveedee...

Has Uni set a release date for BRIDES OF DRAC??
I know REPTILICUS is coming on DVD- will it surprise us all by adding the really bad flying serpent( & not th PRC film either!)? |

Kevin, REPTILICUS is out now, sans supplements (I thought that Kip Doto might provide some supplements, but none surfaced).

Well, at least I remembered that it's coming out correctly. Just because the rest of my brain has cobwebs.... |

SPIRITS OF THE DEAD | ||
|
Reportedly, Home Vision Cinema has assigned a street date of November 13 for their superior color transfer of this popular Euro/Poe trilogy. The currently available DVD, from Image, is derived from an inferior Australian Pal master. Purists, however, might want to own a copy of each, as the new Home Vision disc won't include the English soundtrack (the best way to appreciate TOBY DAMMIT). I believe that Tim Lucas provided the English soundtrack as an extra for the earlier Image release.

Scheduled for DVD release on October 16, featuring "over six hours of unique material"--including, one presumes, the movie.

Beware the Red Lectroids
|
Just read that MGM will be putting out BUCKAROO BANZAI this Jan. as a special edition DVD. It will finlly see widescreen release and will have the usual commentary, making of documentary, deleted scenes and MGM promises lots of easter eggs. I was hoping they'd release this widescreen, but I never dreamed of such a nice SE.

Price's narration only "appears" in the English language soundtrack version. Presumably, AIP hired him to make the Euro film more palatible (sp?) to American audiences. I haven't heard the narration in years, but doesn't Price just read some poetry? He doesn't appear on-camera.

Following up on Richards' note about the DVD of this film: the good news is that the complete film will indeed be included in the October 16 release. The bad news is that the audio commentary will be provided by Jar Jar Binks.
