Just finished ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS SEASON 3. Most of these 1950s episodes are very poor with rubbish endings and no twist. Some are downright comically
bad. His intros are fabulous, and some (not all) of his directorial episodes are okay.

Gabi Ng Lagim (Night Of Terror) 2-Filipino horror anthology that seemingly had a fourth story whacked from the print.
El Vampiro Sangriento 6-fansubbed version of The Bloody Vampire off of De Peculia (sp?) The Hand 4 Prey 5-Low budget British sci fi chiller about an alien insinuating himself into a lesbian couple's home looking for something to eat. Dawn Of The Dead (Euro version) 9-I like the US version better. The Dead Will Walk (Doc) 7-Documentary on the above film. Spectre (06) 3-So so Spanish ghost story. The Blame ACK!-Spanish film about a doctor who does abortions on the side. Comes across as a heavy handed anti-abortion film with no scares at all. My thought is that since the doctor is also played as a lesbian that this was put in there to make her even more unsympathetic. I'm the wrong audience for this kind of moralistic bullshit.

An interesting double feature:
Kathy Griffin's Allegedly and Asylum's new The Land That Time Forgot.

Recently watched the Jack Palance DRACULA directed by Dan Curtis from Richard Matheson's script.
Last night I watched a gorgeous transfer of SCOTLAND YARD HUNTS DR. MABUSE in German with patchy computerized English subtitles. Nice to see a clean restored print of the film. "Madness does not preclude achievement." - Blake Edwards |

Boy, am I glad Ken wrote up THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN. I watched it on Blu-ray last night, and I was blown away. Beautiful to look at and gory, nay, surgical at
the same time! I found my face scrunched up in expressions of revulsion I didn't know it could perform, yet I couldn't take my eyes off the screen.
SPOILER! I found it strangely reminiscent of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS in that the person who fought the hardest to find out what was happening got to take (over!) the ride at the end. |

I've been reading these lists and muttering, "Oooh -- I gotta watch that! And that! And that!" But instead, I've been watching way too many
baseball playoffs.

i thought i'd have as much fun with it as i did with 50 MILLION FRENCHMEN, owing to the fact that they were both made the same year and by the same
director. i was wrong.
