As I sit here and listen to the original soundtrack to THE BOY FRIEND (perfectly normal Christmas Eve behavior...shut up) it dawned on me that this gem is still not on DVD. Warner Home Video seems to have issues with releasing Russell films.

"Buffy " and "Angel" producer Joss Whedon has created a three-part musical comedy entitled "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," to be streamed online starting Tuesday, July 15, 2008. The cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day (the latter two veterans of past Whedon shows).

I'm talking the full gamut from Robert Johnson to Howlin' Wolf to Hendrix to Led Zeppelin - Delta to Heavy.

My path to the blues went something like this
The Beatles > While My Guitar Gently Weeps > Eric Clapton > Cream, hence Zeppelin, Hendrix, Johnson and onwards.

My favourite blues vocalists are Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Robert Plant and Robert Johnson.

The best time I've had in a theatre since CHAPERONE! Beane's script manages to fix, reduce, and deconstruct that 1980 bomb with wit and flair. Mary Testa (all is forgiven!) and Jackie Hoffman make a better team than Lane and Broderick, Roberts is...hmm, well, Roberts, only more fun this time out (and he looks astonishingly like Hume Cronyn in his second role).

I'm seeing one of the final performances of the REPRISE! (Los Angeles) production of NO STRINGS tomorrow.

I know this is not one of the great musicals but it's been one of my guilty pleasures since I had the OC album when I was in college. (IMHO the Captiol album was one of the last really charismatic OC albums of the great era. I also found a British cast album in one of the LA thrift shops).

Also this show is, as far as I know, rarely revived so that's another reason to go,...
